twilight of the gods
the stars incline us, they do not bind us.
Twilight of the Gods is an LGBT-centric fantasy-adventure novel series set in the fictional realm of Eden, the Lower World. It follows the story of Jevon Sebastian Fulbright, or "Astrophel": the discrowned heir of the stars as well as the direct reincarnation of the Great Mediator and de facto leader of the Celestial Hierarchy, Sirius. An unwilling cog in the gruesome machinations of fate, after the foredoomed passing of his aforementioned predecessor, his wings shot, and the heavens scorched, Astrophel falls from his skyborne abode of Arcadia and, as if preordained - into the arms of the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Igerene - which reigns as the most powerful country within the mortal realm - Roxxy.Although their meeting only seems like a stroke of serendipity and an unbreakable kinship inflames between the two henceforward, Astrophel finds something uncannily familiar about the young prince, begetting estranged memories from his former existence as the Great Archangel. When the selfsame heretic who rebelled against the Divine Law and saw the Great Mediator slain arises again many years later to plunge the Lower World into destruction and mayhem, Astrophel - now rechristened as the son of the legendary alchemist Joseph Alexandre Fulbright - determined to protect the new life he has forged among humans, and unearth the secrets of his ill-starred lineage, embarks on a fateful journey to rediscover his place in destiny once and for all.ART CREDIT: yolkacola + rossaredflyn
the journey continues...
The Lower World of Eden is a melting pot of cultures and ideologies foregrounded by rich, thrilling mysteries and storied lore encapsulating ancient wars between gods, the segregation of the Nine Realms following the installation of Eden's Law. Alongside biblical calamity and threats of Ragnarok; the rising and falling of once-great empires, and the never-ending, bitter struggle against the contrivances of the Fates. The bulk of the narrative highlights the unsurpassable superpower known as the Kingdom of Igerene - otherwise the Kingdom of War. The first major story arc, which spans the first two books, elaborates on Igerene's imperious though bloodied history, underlining political and social strife, the cruelties and consequences of war, and the denouncement of stern, hackneyed traditions versus the acceptance and necessity of progression. Geographically, Igerene is home to exquisite coasts, myriads of historical battlefields, titanic fortress cities, and legendary citadels. As time goes on, Jevon and his companions will eventually see all that the Lower World has to offer. From Igerene's westerly neighbors in the Kingdom of Codoslia, a country steeped in academic culture and magical study spearheaded by the College of Alchemy; to the solitary archipelagos of the Asterian Empire, forced to endure the cruel leadership of the antagonistic Asterian Orthodoxy whose primary figure of worship is the series' central antagonist, the dishonored King, Canopus. Eventually, they will have arrived at the very crossroads of destiny itself: the nexus of all convergences and all fates; the prophetic Elysian Fields.Twilight of the Gods will be a multi-book series uploaded on Tapas in finished bulks. I am my own editor so bear that in mind before hopping in; it is no masterpiece, but writing books is my greatest passion and I have spent nearly a decade working out the kinks for this universe alone, and after all the blood, sweat, and tears, I want nothing more than to be able to share my strenuous efforts with a larger audience. The first book of TOTG is currently finished and is now available to read on Tapas with future updates coming weekly! I am also in the process of slowly editing its sequel, but feel free to also drop by my Ko-fi and Patreon if you would like to further show your support!

jevon sebastian fulbright
Jevon Sebastian Fulbright, previously named Astrophel - is the central protagonist of Twilight of the Gods. He is the successor and the reincarnation of Sirius, hailed as the Great Mediator as the last of the ancient archangels of Elysia - as well as the universally accepted ruler of the Celestial Hierarchy and the Principalities who operate beneath them. After the death of his predecessor, Astrophel escapes from his skyborne homeland of Arcadia, and miraculously, as though by some stroke of kismet, finds himself in the arms of the young prince of the Kingdom of Igerene, Roxxy. He was thereafter adopted by a renowned alchemist known as Joseph Fulbright and inaugurated as his apprentice while continuing to maintain an unflagging camaraderie with the Montagues.Since the abdication of his godhood, his body has slowly but surely adapted to coexisting within the Lower World, which has thus allowed him to age properly alongside the young prince as the years tick by. Inevitably, he begins to nurse something of an affinity for his dear friend, whom he swears he has met before - perhaps in another life? - but the words he wished to say ultimately remain unsaid as disaster strikes and Prince Roxxy finds himself entangled in a devastating war that separates them for the better half of a decade.Jevon is sophisticated and cultured, considered by his peers as an undisputed connoisseur of art and proper etiquette. He personifies the soul of an artist to its fullest degree, striving for elegance and class in all that he does while conveying an empathetic, benevolent, and sage deportment and seldom surrenders to bursts of anger and impulsion. His embittered outlook on the world; a leftover, sour taste in the back of his throat inherited from estranged, vague memories of rancor and draconic vindictiveness he suffered during his past life as the Great Mediator, is evened out by his stubbornly sincere, selfless heart and innocent curiosity, tempering the flames of his enduring enmity and allowing him to locate and appreciate beauty in the most desolate corners of humanity and their unsustainable sin. This is primarily due to the stalwart bonds that he has managed to forge since his descent, gradually chiseling away timidity and distrust, establishing phoenixes of confidence, integrity, and rapport from the ashes of a sheltered, lonely childhood. But those ancient scars still ache at times. Although a composed and silver-tongued gentleman on the surface, Jevon still finds himself tied down by his grievous past, eternally tormented by the unbearably crushing weight of his regrets and the shadows of nameless, profound grief. He vocally and physically struggles with his sense of self-worth and sleepless bouts of debilitating depression, and can be considered, at times, to be exasperatedly self-sacrificial; that is, to an almost dangerous degree, and has a habit of placing the needs of others well before his own— unconcerned if it is to his personal detriment or not.He has a survivor’s complex that is fueled by the carnal urge to atone on behalf of his former self’s indignities; but even should that spiteful dragon lay sleeping in the darkest crevasses of his being, they never truly died, and even if he deludes himself with illusions of autonomy and humanlike nobility— it is not so easy to forget hate.

Dislikes: Bitter and spicy things, including coffee. Unruly and crowded places. Inelegance and uncleanliness. Churches. Fire.
trivia
He is deeply passionate about the arts, especially music, and has a special preference for the harp and piano. He even likes to sonnet original compositions when time is lenient. He is also an unbelievably talented singer, which is rooted in his origins as an Arcadian as they are often referred to as the "Voice of the Gods."
He has a massive sweet tooth and is disinclined to eat much else, though due to his unique composition, he typically isn't receptive to any of the consequences of overindulgence per se. His favorite is a traditional strawberry cake, but he also likes parfaits, macarons, and tarte tatin. Whereas he despises bitter and spicy things, and you would have to hogtie him before he will consent to eating his greens.
He loves cats and currently owns a rescued stray named Aurora, who of which is his specialest princess in the whole wide world and deserves all the scratches.
Jevon identifies as a gay man.
His primary inspiration was Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. Albeit more so for his romanticist flair.
He knows how to fight and regularly trains with polearms. His main weapon is a sacred relic named Iapetus.
Jevon is multilingual. Integral for his diplomatic work, but he shares a keen interest in the study of language alongside Roxxy.
His main color palette consists of navies/dark blues, golds, and whites.
He cannot get drunk no matter how much alcohol he consumes, no doubt because of his... unique composition once again.
He likes to write poetry in his spare time and it is as mushy and overly flowery as you can expect.
He is one of the tallest of the main cast at a staggering 6'5".
He considers Xolani to be his best friend.
Jevon is heavily associated with white lilies. His favorite type of in-universe flower, however, belongs to a fictional species known as cloud-catchers. Courtesy of their namesake, they possess fluffy, bulbous flowerheads, much like hydrangeas, that happen to resemble clouds, ordinarily growing in clusters around waterfronts.
He doesn't know how to properly shop for clothes so he typically defers to Xolani's wisdom as a self-declared fashionista.
Growing up he was hilariously and endearingly short and borderline childlike, but suddenly and dramatically shot up in height when he hit about 20. A late bloomer, to say the least.
Jevon is exceedingly popular with the ladies (and the occasional man) because his charisma stat maxed out at birth, but he is oblivious to this despite the fact that he has an entire drawer stuffed to the brim with love letters from every coworker and every unfortunate client - and even a handful of the celebrated, battle-scarred Valkyrie he has unintentionally swept off their feet with his destructive charms.
He has incredibly poor navigational skills and gets lost extremely easily.
Jevon heartily enjoys baking, but the unfortunate reality is that he cannot bake whatsoever, even to fulfill his sweets addiction, and is doomed to char everything he touches beyond edibility. Leaving him alone in a kitchen should be considered a Class A felony.
He suffers from extreme, chronic insomnia.
xolani andrea saroyan
Xolani Andrea Saroyan is the deuteragonist of Twilight of the Gods. They are the disinherited heir of House Alexis who presides over the Alexis Dukedom. They are a mutual friend of both Jevon and Roxxy and grew up alongside them as the eldest of their merry little trio of rascals as the Alexises and the Montagues have fostered intimate ties since the veritable birth of the kingdom. However, Xolani is not blood-related to the Alexises, previously an orphan under the guardianship of Cardinal Daphne of the Church of Antares, though due to certain circumstances, they were eventually inaugurated, against their will more or less - into House Alexis by its current liege: Sir Mercutio. Though after surviving intense abuse and indoctrination by Mercutio's hands, Xolani would choose to rescind their ties after graduation and was whereby adopted by Ena Saroyan: an erstwhile adventurer of some renown and proprietor of the tavern the Shackled Heart. On the surface, Xolani presents themself as a leisurely soul who seemingly values the Epicurean lifestyle above everything else. However, underneath that lax demeanor may yet sleep a gross underbelly of dark secrets...

Likes: Fashion, accessories, extravagance, cosmetics, overindulgence, alcohol, sunbathing, cats, expensive sweets, nighttime, games of chance.
Dislikes: Unsophistication, insects, the outdoors, hiking - anything that takes them away from all their cushy opulence and comfort, really. They are also not overly fond of the clergy. Responsibility, chivalry, work.
trivia
Xolani took their chosen name from their late biological mother, who traveled over to Igerene at a young age to pursue stardom at the Grand Amphitheater from the Kingdom of Amani.
Xolani is gender nonconforming. They don't like to place specific labels on themself though since it is simply too much of a headache, truth be told. Xolani is just Xolani!
Xolani is handy with a violin, though they were forced to learn alongside their expected etiquette classes. Nonetheless, they do take pride in their ability, but reserves performances for the ears of friends and friends only.
Xolani can be considered a bit of a flirt, but casual dating is merely a fun pastime for them. Their preferred type are the token "Prince Charmings who will whisk me off my feet and onto a white horse" which, to say the least, is a bit of a rare species, so they'll usually end up going home after the first conversation.
Xolani lost their right eye during an argument with their adoptive brother, Orlando, which ended up taking a violent turn, to say the least, alongside an abdominal scar they had obtained after rescuing Roxxy from the likes of an assailant when they were both still young.
Xolani is very interested in fashion, which is reflected by their expensive - and elegant - wardrobe. In particular, they have a particular fondness for glittery, gold accessories.
Xolani is considered a master of interrogation and is familiar with a variety of torture techniques. Since they undertook the mantle of leadership over the Brotherhood, not once have they been unsuccessful in completely breaking their target - whether emotionally or physically.
They are responsible for Jevon and Elena's wardrobes, including their main attires. Elena, in particular, Xolani enjoys shopping for - from their perspective, she possesses a cute, dressable, doll-like physique.
Despite their lackadaisical personality, Xolani ranked as the second-best student at Aeshantis Academy during their tenure, beaten only by Roxxy. If they had put just a little more effort into their education, they likely would have surpassed him.
Xolani has an unapologetic sweet tooth, which is something that Jevon and them can bond over. Their favorite dessert - and overall food - are Codoslian macaroons.
Xolani's favorite color palette is gold and black.
Xolani will occasionally drop by the cathedral, which also doubles as an orphanage, to play with the children, who all perceive Xolani as a big sibling figure. Given that this was once Xolani's home as well, they have a special attachment to it - or rather the two in charge who showed them empathy when none else would, one Cardinal Daphne and her apprentice and nephew.
Xolani has a profound appreciation for alcohol, although in more of a moderative connoisseur sense. They have a special preference for fancy wines in particular and often helps their adoptive father, the proprietor of a tavern known as the Shackled Heart, Ena Saroyan, with sampling his cocktail
abominationsexperiments. The downside is that they cannot hold their liquor whatsoever.
elena sofia fulbright
Elena Sofia Fulbright is the tritagonist of Twilight of the Gods. She is the older adoptive sister of Jevon and an alchemist under the tutelage of - as well as trueborn daughter to - one of the most preeminent greats of their era: Joseph Alexandre Fulbright. In between her continuous alchemical research - a scientist's proclivity for gathering knowledge is interminable - she moonlights as a professor for the Aeshantis Royal Academy in the Tybalt Dukedom. Albeit one thing leads to another and she ultimately ends up taking an extended leave to join her younger pupil on his life-changing across the realms.Elena is a master among masters when it comes to her craft, even if the practice of alchemy is quite frowned upon by outsiders due to its immanent ties to the Traitor King, Lazarus - who disseminated the art of magic after stealing it from the likes of the gods and whereby labeling his followers as heretics.Elena herself does not think highly of the Traitor King; she believes that steady evolution of alchemy could be genuinely beneficial for the growth of the human race moving forward, whether medicinally or technologically; she believes in moderation, dismisses overindulgence, and denounces those who utilize their gifts for corrupt purposes. At the very least, it is undeniable that her proficiency at wielding these Promethean techniques is second to none - a living legacy in the same vein as her lauded predecessor.Worldly and all-knowing indeed, Elena is also... brash, mean-spirited, sarcastic - and overall exceedingly difficult to deal with... but where her personality might falter, her deathless devotion to her primary circle, especially her family, cannot be overstated enough.

Occupation: Scholar + Royal Professor
Relatives: Joseph Alexandre Fulbright, (father and teacher) Jevon Sebastian Fulbright (adoptive brother.)
Friends: The Montagues, Xolani Andrea Saroyan.
Height: 5'0"
Likes: Books, ancient literature and history; research, ruins, amphibians, spicier, energizing foods, coffee (seven potfuls every morning) libraries - the indoors in general - rare curios and artifacts, and the comfort of her own solitude. Sewing, crocheting, baking.
Dislikes: Most other people excluding those special select few, overstimulating environments, large animals, sweets. Isn't overly fond of younger people, especially loud children and teenagers - mainly because she lacks the mental fortitude to put up with their jaded attitudes and tantrums. Crowds. The outdoors - she's a hunchbacked scholar and therefore not built for long-term travel.
trivia
Elena is the shortest of the main cast at 5'0".
Elena has a butterfly motif.
Though she has a personal preference for fire-based spells.
Elena is allergic to cats and dislikes dogs and other larger animals because they're quote, unquote “too rowdy” and overall extremely intimidating for someone of her physique, but she is often fond of smaller animals like birds and rodents, and especially amphibians.
Elena has an affinity for spicy food.
Elena's favorite type of flowers are called maiden's oaths.
Elena's favorite color combinations include pinks and reds.
Elena is notoriously poor at handling her finances and has a tendency to overspend on otherwise useless knickknacks. This is why Jevon is in charge of her wallet most of the time.
Elena once dated a fellow professor at the academy for a short period of time but they quickly broke it off since her former partner thought that she cared more about her research than forming genuine human connections.
Elena taps her chin while she's in deep thought, a habit she inherited from her father.
Elena has a habit of wandering off and getting lost easily because of how easily distracted she is. Jevon is more or less her babysitter at this point.
As a result of spending most of her time holed up in her study, Elena has the stamina of a grandma. Whenever she becomes exhausted, she'll request Jevon to carry her on his back.
Elena is often criticized for her unladylikeness, such as sitting spread-legged while wearing a skirt and eating sloppily, as well as her excessive cursing.
Elena can go without sleeping for several days and function perfectly fine.
Despite her strictness, Elena has a soft spot for her students and goes out of her way to ensure that they succeed, even taking on overtime to provide extra tutoring if necessary. She wholeheartedly loves her job and though she won't admit it, seeing others accomplish their dreams fills her heart with joy.
One of her alternative hobbies is sewing and has been responsible for patching up the group's clothes when unexpected skirmishes of some manner occur during their journeying. She also hand-tailored her own outfit.
Elena can read the stars and chart maps.
Elena is an incredibly good illustrator. Her notebook is filled to the brim with sketches of various things they have come across on their journey, ranging from animals to flowers to ruins.
She identifies as a lesbian. Though when it comes to matters of romantic proportion, she is exceedingly shy.
She takes a lot of inspiration from the main protagonist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series, Edward Elric.
roximus avraham montague
Roximus Avraham Montague, otherwise just "Roxxy," is a main character in Twilight of the Gods. He is the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Igerene and the primary love interest for our dear protagonist Jevon. He is a holder of the "Divine Sight" and the chosen disciple of Igerene's Patron God and Principality, the Scorpion Star Antares. Destined to inherit Antares' divine potential and eventually ascend as both the future king and god of his country, he is highly esteemed by his people and regarded as their one and only hope as the fate of Igerene teeters on the precipice of total devastation. Though to his superiors, he may be nothing more than a simple pawn - an impressionable figurehead they can bend to suit their own desires and filthy appetites for power.Entitled the Warrior Prince, Roxxy is an unprecedented force on the battlefield; a raging cyclone with no equal. Though in spite of the ghost-blood that haunts his hands indelibly from the uncountable lives his bloodthirsty heritage has condemned since his ancestor, Drucilla the Conqueror, established Igerene as a daunting and ruthless superpower - Roxxy has nothing but scorn for the needlessness of war and cares little for the fated power at his disposal. In truth, he wants nothing more than to revitalize the decree of the Saint-King Alirense, who had ultimately been martyred in his attempt to reform Igerene, and take responsibility for the barbarity of his lineage and guide his subjects toward an era of long-lasting, stainless peace.Of course, fate is a fickle thing. In the end, Roxxy was devised as a puppet: a vessel proper to assimilate Antares' blood-stained ambition, so will he ever be able to escape the wrath of his true nature?

Likes: World history, linguistics, culture. Swashbuckling tales of adventure, courtesy of either his mother or Uncle Ena. Cheesecake. Dogs (he loves dogs!) The Legends of the Dragon King book series (its established biggest fan.) Fashion, corsets. Sabers and other rare weaponry. Theater; the arts.
Dislikes: Colder climates, sweets (with the exception of dark chocolate and cheesecake), dishonesty, unloyalty, his own stubbornness at times alongside his inability to forgo selflessness.
trivia
Roxxy has a predilection for corsets and you can be assured that he will always attempt to incorporate them into his wardrobe for the day.
His favorite novel series is the Legends of the Dragon King, which was penned by an anonymous but storied author who goes by the sobriquet Pendragon. It is a dark fantasy that follows the adventures of Prince Sigurd of the fictional Kingdom of Aeron, which occupies the legendary warrior race, the Aesir, after his kingdom was subjugated by the enemy Vanir and his quest to reclaim his stolen honor. Roxxy is practically a superfan and owns both the standard volume and limited editions and has read through them at least five times over each. His fictional crush is also the eponymous protagonist himself.
He was the one who gifted Jevon the signature brooch he wears as well as his silver lyre.
His first crush and "awakening" per se was a young butler who used to be one of his formal attendants, but certain incidents led said butler into resigning from service at Castle Montague.
Roxxy has an exceptionally deep phobia of ghosts and other supernatural oddities.
Roxxy is the eldest child of the second queen, Camilla, although in the scope of his uncountable half-siblings who were born of the king's first affair, he fits in as an unfortunate middle child. The siblings he is closest to overall are his older brother Vincent and older sister Ophelia, whereas his twin brother, Donati, is the absolute bane of his existence.
He was exceedingly close to his mother before she passed and continues to foster an extremely good relationship with his father, King Raphael.
He is immune to food poisoning and... what could be considered inedible overall because of his aforementioned parents and the fact that neither of them ever knew how to cook properly but attempted for their children regardless to promote bonding. Needless to say, it has since completely sullied Roxxy's taste-palette and now he could practically eat dirt and consider it gourmet.
One of his leading interests is linguistics and as a result is fluent in a great number of languages. Because of this, he often steps in as their translator, per se, when they travel to other countries.
One of his original inspirations was Romeo from Romeo and Juliet.
He is a fervid appreciator of wine; albeit unlike some other people, he does not get drunk nearly as easily.
He is the biblical personification of a dog person and has an entirely devoted property on the castle grounds for his dear canine companions. He is a fan of bigger dogs in particular. The leader of the "pack", so to speak, is an aged and mammoth wolf-dog named Vitus - though he isn't nearly as intimidating as he appears, so long as no harm befalls his master. Additionally, Roxxy also owns a retired warhorse, Dominic, who... could have a better temperament towards others. That is to say, there is a good chance you're getting kicked in the face unless you're Roxxy.
Roxxy is the overall strongest of the main characters in terms of combat ability - but that is only to be expected given that he is the reincarnation of a War God.
It is said that he greatly resembles his ancestor, the Saint-King Alirense, in terms of appearance and personality.
canopus
Canopus is the main antagonist of Twilight of the Gods. Otherwise known as the King Star, he is the Principality, or Patron God, who presides over the Asterian Empire and acts as both the leader and idol of a mad cult known as the Asterian Orthodoxy.Although his true motives are yet shrouded in mystery, he aims to overthrow the Celestial Hierarchy and is responsible for orchestrating the assassination of the Great Mediator by befriending and manipulating their young and naive successor, Astrophel. In doing so, he singlehandedly led Arcadia and the Upper World to complete ruin, permanently upsetting the cosmic balance. Without the stalwart protection of Sirius, the Lower World now lies defenseless to his sadistic machinations henceforward as he schemes to empower the Asterian Orthodoxy to sow discord and war throughout the reaches of the Nine Realms, first intending to wipe the stain that is the Kingdom of Igerene off the face of the earth as they no doubt pose the largest threat to his incontestable sovereignty. He is a young and arrogant god who is cursed by his hubris and his uncanny fascination with spreading misery and suffering. A telltale coldhearted villain designed as little more than an obstacle for our protagonists to trounce. There is no rhyme or reason to his madness. What has been prewritten is not to be unwrote. But this cruel, solitary role cannot be played by anyone else, no?Now, gods, stand up for bastards!

trivia
Canopus is the author's favorite character to write outside of the protagonist himself.
He is heavily inspired by the Greek god Apollo.
As a god he can shapeshift into a myriad of different forms and thereby also considers himself to be more fluid in terms of his gender representation, though he customarily goes by masculine designations as Canopus is consistently worshiped as a masculine deity.
His hobbies include chess, to which he is unbeaten, alongside wine tasting, gardening, sonneteering, and playing the laouto.
He taught Jevon, or Astrophel, how to read music and play an instrument, and also coached him in musical theory as a whole.
Hector is his real name. It was initially inspired by the famous Trojan prince from the Illiad. Beyond that albeit his background as a mortal is predominantly unknown.
His favorite animals are doves.
His favorite type of flower is known as a love's truth. Love's truths are based on hyacinths and are native to Asteros and are also hailed as their national flower. Love's truths sometimes cluster around graves, which spawned the myth that if you find a love's truth blossoming next to the tomb of a loved one, you are guaranteed to reunite with them in your next life.
He deeply enjoys braiding and decorating his hair. Regardless of the form he adapts, he will always aim to incorporate a braid or jewel or several.
He will always win "best dressed" as well and is overall very conscious about his appearance.
His castle is known as the "Cradle of Heaven."
He draws inspiration from Macbeth and King Lear and frequently quotes them.
felix alain faucher
Felix Alain Faucher is one of the main antagonists of Twilight of the Gods. He is a former affiliate of the College of Alchemy and the youngest alchemist in history to be inaugurated into the Chamber of Sages - an exclusive coven consisting of the most reputable alchemists and mages in the land - as the respectable pupil of Grandmaster Bastien Iago, headmaster of the College, himself. He was worshiped as a natural-born prodigy by his peers for his devastating potential and intelligence and was eventually conscripted to play an integral role in the project spearheaded by the royal family of House Faust to unbind the long-sealed Pillars of Creation - a forbidden beacon of unfathomable magical power. However, Felix unexplainably turned his back on the project and switched gears, opting to bend his focus toward the study of biological and medicinal alchemy with the intention of becoming a doctor who would "revolutionize the world."He was invited on a scholarship to study at the Aeshantis Royal Academy in the Kingdom of Igerene and ended up befriending our protagonist Jevon after they serendipitously became roommates. Needless to say, no one would have ever expected that this unassuming genius would end up becoming the catalyst for the catastrophic war that would consume the continent following graduation. But the one who murdered the queen was stricken dead, right? Then how does he still manage to breathe and walk amongst us? But how exactly are we meant to distinguish the dead from the living, anyway? What no longer draws breath, so long as God decrees, can burst like a phoenix from their ashes and rise again. Even if all that remains is a desiccated corpse dressed in the living's clothes. After all, men at some time are masters of their fate. But the fault is not in our stars. For who are we to deny the will of the author?

Dislikes: Unfounded superstition, unskeptical people, eating, high society, animals, rain, extroversion, restriction.
trivia
Felix is written to be autistic.
His original hair color was orange.
Due to forgetfulness and general self-disdain, alongside his incurable habit of getting dangerously too engrossed in his work and research, his diet and hygiene could be considered unbalanced and he is therefore unhealthily underweight.
He is a trans man. He also identifies as bisexual and has a strong preference for women.
He deeply idolizes a famous alchemist and former member of the Chamber of Sages: Dr. Moreau. The good doctor has acted as the foundation for his research and a primary source of intellectual inspiration as a fellow practitioner of bio-alchemy.
Felix is extremely fond of murder mystery stories. He enjoys brainteasers in general and stimulating material that gets his brain working, but he especially enjoys the action-packed, mystifying escapades of fictional detectives alongside the meticulously crafted drama and overarching dilemma. But he is also extremely picky and does his best to avoid obvious tropes or else there is a good chance he will be able to work out the identity of the mastermind instantaneously.
He struggles to be empathetic toward "weaker" creatures so to speak, such as animals and children. He vehemently dislikes the former because of trauma and just general disinterest.
Felix is a proud skeptic and prefers to avoid superstitious behavior at all costs. He believes that paranormal phenomena can easily be explained with science and despite his work, he does not put a lot of stock in the probability of "miracles." As an atheist, he would have merrily denounced the existence of "God" as well - had he not already met Him.
He enjoys the popular TCG "Divine Oath" and is considered to have mastered it.
He is associated with plague doctors.
He particularly enjoys the development and study of homunculi.
His main weapon of choice is a battle scythe.
antares
"Antares" is one of the main protagonists of Twilight of the Gods. She is the Patron God of the Kingdom of Igerene: the Principality of War and the Scorpion Star. She is considered the physical embodiment of the concept of war and the lone god that singularly rules over the Igerenian pantheon as their main figure of worship. The subjects of Igerene, the "Children of War," are extremely and borderline obsessively faithful, longing to adhere to her blood-soaked doctrine through restless, gratuitous conquest and violence. In many ways, she is the personification as well as the wellhead of Igerene's long-standing corruption given that legend quotes that the denizens of Castle Montague are her direct descendants, her unquenchable thirst for blood alongside her unchallenged and cruel pride swimming through their blest veins. But when Jevon encounters this supposedly cold-blooded and murderous deity, he quickly discovers that her scorned reputation does not precede her, in fact. Although purposefully enigmatic and difficult to understand on the surface behind her concentrated, trained visage of indifference, it seems as if the unspeakably grotesque god of war genuinely rebuffs the idea of further unnecessary bloodshed, and would rather her country and citizens therein find true peace.
joseph alexandre fulbright
Joseph Alexandre Fulbright is a minor character in Twilight of the Gods. He is a legendary alchemist, even decreed by the Chamber of Sages, whose ranks are heralded as the greatest minds in all the land, as the Second Coming of the Traitor King Lazarus - the forefather of all magic himself. Although he is not personally affiliated with the College of Alchemy notwithstanding his storied status, and their constant pressurizing, a clash of interests coupled with his generally antisocial personality has instead encouraged Joseph to undertake the life of a wanderer. An uncontainable bird of passage determined to sleuth out the mysteries of the world and continue to nurture his wanderlust and innate rapacity for the cultivation of knowledge. He is the biological father of Elena Sofia Fulbright as well as her teacher. He also legally adopted Jevon into his family and while Jevon was not interested in learning magic from him ultimately, his relationship with Joseph was integral in the development of his new identity as a human. Although Joseph is somewhat estranged as his research typically keeps him on the move constantly, alongside his ongoing struggle with self-expression with the intricacies of parenthood being as much of a puzzle to him as any complex equation; the bond the Fulbright household shares is indisputable. And ultimately, there is little that a father would not do for his family.
vincent liron montague
Vincent Liron Montague is a minor character in Twilight of the Gods. He is a prince of the Kingdom of Igerene and a child born of the first queen prior to her usurpation. He is one of the eldest overall and was inducted into Public Divisions as a diplomat shortly after he came of age alongside his younger sister, Princess Naomi. It was Vincent who initially encouraged Jevon to join their ranks as well.In general, Vincent has served as a mentor and kind, motivational older brother figure to not only our dear protagonist but also one Crown Prince Roxxy. Vincent's relationship with Roxxy and vice versa is incontestably the strongest among their many, many siblings, even if Roxxy often ridicules Vincent for his teasing mannerisms, he has been inspired by him in a plethora of ways.Namely, his style of dress, even going so far as to adapt his signature braid, mimicking his confident personality, acquiring his selfsame appreciation for the arts: even though Roxxy's shadow and near biblical acclaim was oftentimes suffocating for the older brother: to Vincent, family selfishly takes precedence over all, including duty; including his own life. And the perfect, painless world he has aspired for, that he continues to sweat blood and tears in its pursuance: is a world where his family is no longer daunted by the consequences of their depraved heritage. Wherein his little brothers and sisters can find true happiness.
donati mattathias montague
Donati Mattathias Montague is a minor character in Twilight of the Gods. He is a prince of the Kingdom of Igerene as well as the twin brother to the Crown Prince himself. But he has since revoked his claim to the crown and opted to hang up his regalia for a cassock instead, choosing to train under his aunt, Cardinal Daphne, to eventually take her place among the cardinalate.Contrary to his twin brother, he is a notably reserved and aggressively standoffish man, redelegated as an outcast by his fellow peers alongside his would-be subjects due to his preexisting disability. Although it was ultimately his own decision to elect himself as a member of the clergy instead of resigning himself as his twin brother's advisor and/or squire (though given how often the two tend to butt heads, it did not seem very likely from the start.) Despite his ambivalence when it comes to matters of religion, and he is certainly one to doubt the negligence of the gods at times, he takes profound pride in his work as a priest, and aspires for the day that he and the new regime are able to clear out the corruption and properly reform their divisive homeland. But in spite of his introverted nature, Donati has grown exceptionally close to Xolani Andrea: a former orphan under the cardinalate's care prior to their indoctrination by House Alexis, even if their contrasting personality types seem to go together about as well as oil and water, something can be said about the fact that Donati is the only person who truly "knows" Xolani.
ophelia dinah montague
Ophelia Dinah Montague is a minor character in Twilight of the Gods. She is the eldest child of House Montague and therefore a progeny of the previous disinherited queen. Although she was originally intended for the throne by the law of inheritance, the unprecedented, biblical birth of her younger half-brother Roxxy posed an unforeseeable snag in her great campaign, but there were no such bitter feelings in the end. In fact, she personally trained and educated their newfound Crown Prince in both combat and diplomacy to ensure that his promised greatness did not spiral him down the selfsame path of treachery and blood as their depraved ancestors.Instead, Ophelia was redelegated as the commander of the insurmountable Fort Valenciennes in the Hermia Dukedom, thereby renowned as the Unbreakable Sword of Valenciennes. She is hailed not only for her sterling leadership but as an unrivaled strategist, combatant, and diplomat. She has even been consciously compared to Drucilla the Conqueror: the first ruler of Igerene whose godsent strength commanded her subjects to revere her as a deity. But while Drucilla was a textbook tyrant, Ophelia was raised by her father Raphael and thus, her foremost goal is to reform Igerene and unite the divided people. She will fight if she must to defend their borders as their last bulwark; but otherwise, she much prefers a battle of tongues over a board of politics as opposed to needlessly unsheathing her blade.
antigone rosalind aldemar
Antigone Rosalind Aldemar is a side character in Twilight of the Gods. She is a captain of the elite Valkyrie and a celebrated knight with the moniker "Violet Rose." She is also the primary retainer and fiancée of Princess Ophelia. As the last remaining heir of House Aldemar prior to its dismantlement following the crimes committed by her father and grandfather after they had colluded with the other nobility to overthrow the royal family, although she does not disagree with the punishment of exile her peers were rightly sentenced, she was only but a young girl at the time and was therefore forced to suffer the shame of association. Her former territory absorbed into the Hermia Dukedom, her legacy blackened by treachery while the remnants, even those uninvolved in the uprising, shamed by the populace to this day; Antigone has since nursed a bitter hatred toward the state as a whole.Antigone is loyal to preserving the peace as a defender of the people, but when the time of war arose she did not serve her duty on the frontlines, indisposed to further perpetuate this unbreaking cycle of violence. She is highly vocal about her detestation of the current order and the old, greedy congressmen who pioneer it. But she is unflaggingly determined in her service of Ophelia and her dream of reformation, believing wholeheartedly that she is the ruler that this country needs if it means to not only change, but survive.
julius edmund hermia
Julius Edmund Hermia is a side character in Twilight of the Gods. He is the young lord of House Hermia, presiding over the Hermia Dukedom to the northwest after he was recently inducted into the role following the abrupt passing of the former archduke shortly before the events of the story. An upstanding young man who is deeply devoted to his subjects, if not a bit clumsy, naive, and a bit of a novice at statesmanship, his actions are honest and well-meaning. Unlike his noble peers, he distinguishes himself as a modest, unselfish, and gentle individual. He also has a bit of history with the heir of the former Aldemar Dukedom, Antigone, having grown up with her as a potential suitor, but mostly as an unconditional and exceptional close friend. Albeit following the civil war and the dismantlement of House Aldemar, their close-knit friendship was ultimately condemned as one of the numerous casualties that was confirmed by the proceeding fallout.
lysander samson faust
Lysander Samson Faust is a side character in Twilight of the Gods. He is the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Codoslia, the younger brother of the estranged Princess Juliet, and the childhood friend of Felix Alain Faucher. Albeit he is also a bit introverted and typically prefers to defer to the silent company of books. He and Prince Roxxy were once close friends when Lysander would visit Juliet, whom was formerly engaged to Roxxy prior to her sudden disappearance, during their consular engagements with Igerene. But a volcanic and mysterious falling out has since split an irrecoverable wedge between the two.

betelgeuse
Betelgeuse is an antagonist in Twilight of the Gods. He is the renounced Patron God of the Kingdom of Codoslia, otherwise regarded as the Principality of the Hunt and Hunter Star. The people of Codoslia have since burned his temples, ostracized his image, and displaced their faith. Therefore, his name has become universally synonymous with misfortune and grief: an utter taboo. For his allegedly violent temperament, he was sealed far beneath the earth a near millennium ago by the delegates of the College of Alchemy at the time to contain his destructive bloodlust and aversion toward the unloyal subjects who abandoned him.Scripture delineates Betelgeuse as the ill-fated rival of the Scorpion Star, cursed to forever spite and war with the other. Although it seems like the truth of their tense relationship may run deeper than surface-level prophecy.
